WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME

There’s mosquitos on the river, fish are rising up like birds, it’s been hot for several weeks now, but the seasons are finally starting to shift and you can feel the excitement in the crisp alpine air.

As the snow starts to fall and the mountain calls, we’re thrilled to welcome the new faces and welcome back returning Team Members  to the Mt. Hood Meadows Crew!

Whether this is your first season or your 40th, you’re now part of a team that thrives on adventure, community, and creating an unforgettable mountain experience for our guests.

We’ll experience powder days, bluebird days, and realistically even some rain, but together we’ll ride through the storms! By supporting each other, pushing each other and living out the ‘everybody shovels’ mindset, we’ll strive to make this season the best one yet!

Welcome to (or back to!) the team! Let’s make this season one to remember. Here’s to a season of snow, stoke, and sunny (but sometimes stormy!) skies!

Find the Lyric is back!

In each newsletter this season there will be a hidden song lyric or lyrics. Be one of the firsts to find the hidden lyric, and swing by the HR office to say, or even better sing, the lyric(s) and win a prize.

After a summer of music and minimal newsletters (Sorry everyone!), I’m entering this season with a refreshed list of song lyrics to incorporate.

Safety Summit

Employee Safety: There are more ways than ever to get involved this winter!

Here’s an update on what we’ve been up to:

The Safety Committee:

This is the employee-powered hub of hazard reporting, root-cause analysis, and trend identification. Interested in making Meadows and Cooper Spur safer for all of us? Want to understand more about safety while gaining some new skills? We need YOUR participation to setup the Safety Committee for another season! Let your supervisor know you’d like to join the Committee, and we’ll make sure you get invited to meetings! Supervisors, managers, directors: What will YOUR department’s participation look like this year? Identifying a Safety Committee representative is an ideal starting point – who will you send? We’ll run two sessions on meeting days, as we did last winter: One for primarily outdoor workers, another for those working indoors.

Injury/Incident/Hazard Reporting is being upgraded.

Updated forms and automation should make reporting easier while providing better communication and data access. Keep using the existing JIRA RISK channel  for now – use the QR code, use the Portal marked with the Green Cross for Safety.

Get Shreddy!

We’re boosting the stoke to levels heretofore unknown with our newest program. Get Shreddy is a 4-Module unit rooted in science and designed to make your day on The Hill the best it can be.

THE PROMISE:

Activated together, the synergy of these elements:

Will give you SHREDD power. You’ll ski stronger right out of the gate.

You’ll ride longer and better on days off.

Will result in fewer falls on slope and better outcomes when they do happen.

Will help you feel better all day.

Will give you a fun way to challenge yourself and your friends!
